Skin and laser aesthetics · needle-based treatment of texture and shallow scarring · the texture-or-laxity assessment

Dr. Ke He is Deputy Director of the Plastic Surgery & Aesthetics Medical Center at Chongqing West District Hospital and head of its skin and laser aesthetic service — and she is the lead physician of this site. A core specialist formerly at the Plastic and Aesthetic Surgery Department of Xinqiao Hospital, affiliated with Army Medical University, she has worked on the clinical front line in skin laser and injectable aesthetics for more than 20 years, serving over ten thousand patients.

The needle-only route is the treatment Dr. He reaches for first in skin that darkens after injury and in patients whose calendar cannot absorb a visible recovery, and she is candid that it buys less per session in exchange. Her assessment establishes what the marks actually are before any treatment is offered, because texture, a shallow scar, a tethered scar and a pigment disorder look similar in a mirror and demand different instruments. Depth and interval are set from the examination rather than from a default, and she declines treatment outright in active infection, in inflamed acne, in a bleeding disorder that cannot be managed, and in a course of oral acne treatment that has not finished. She also stops courses: when a plan has reached its plateau, she says so rather than adding sessions.

Clinical focus

  • Assessment that separates surface texture from laxity before any plan is agreed
  • Needle-only treatment of texture, shallow scarring and dullness, with depth set from examination
  • Pigment risk in darker skin, and the test area before a full treatment
  • When a mark needs a diagnosis before it needs a treatment
  • Stopping a course at its plateau, and referral when the finding is outside what needles reach

A needle is not a lift

This treatment changes the surface of the skin. It does not reposition tissue that has descended and it does not tighten what has loosened. When the change a patient is describing is position rather than surface, the honest answer is an assessment for what would address it — not a longer course of needling.

Find out what your marks actually are

Arrange a skin assessment. We will establish what the marks are, whether a needle is the right instrument for them, what the recovery would cost you, and say plainly when the honest answer is a different treatment or none.
